NCEA Level 1 Geography
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mrs J. Grey
Geography is about what is around us. It looks at people and places, and the interactions between them.
Our course covers many different topics and geographic skills.
We complete up to two external achievement standards. One involves the application of geographic skills such as mapping and interpretation of visuals and graphs. This achievement standard covers the skills necessary to investigate different issues. The other external involves investigating an extreme natural event and it's impact on people and the land.
Students also cover a selection of internal achievement standards such as research, a current issue in New Zealand and a global study.
This course provides an interesting and broad base for any future studies in the social sciences or earth sciences.
A student will be withdrawn from a standard if the teacher is not confident that the achievement of the standard is within the reach of the student or there is no evidence of the student attempting the assessment.
