Through career exploration and personal development ākonga will gain the insight, confidence and skills to get work, keep work and create careers. Together we will explore:
- Personal strengths and values
- Communication
- Employability skills and employment opportunities
- Local industries
- Community service
- Workplace preparedness
- Financial literacy which includes: Bank Accounts; Credit & Debit Cards; Careers & Employment; KiwiSaver; Personal Budget; Renting; Home Ownership; Investing through the Stock Exchange and Insurance using the Banqer High Platform.
- Wellbeing
The Explore course includes: self-awareness; exposure to the world of work; exploring different types of work and career pathways; employability skills; creating a CV; workplace visit; voluntary work experience; health & safety in the workplace (could include a visit to Tenon); financial literacy (could include an employment services visit); and possible work experience (could be through Gateway).
