Teacher in Charge: Mr A. Froggett
The License to Work program is all about helping young people gain the insight, confidence and skills to get work, keep work and create careers.
We get out and about a lot, explore workplaces and the opportunities in our district. It is all about learning what the workplace expects of you and helping you create a plan for life after school. License to Work includes voluntary work and work experience. We complete a safety course, first aid and drivers license plus a whole lot more – career planning, CVs, job interviews, budgeting, going flatting, buying a car, buying a house, hauora, apprenticeships, employment contracts, tax and business basics etc.
This program runs in conjunction with Taupo Pathways. It is a great combination with Trades Academy where you can learn the technical skills to go with the employability skills that you learn in License to Work.
For Year 11s this is a 2 year program
Units covered will be pre-employment as well as one’s that relate to your area of interest.
Entry is by interview with the Dean and Rachel Palmer.
