This is a practical course focusing on a mix of music technology, composition, practical music on a chosen instrument. The modules in Year 10 are streamlined to allow students to take music in Year 11 and look at the following:
Module 1: Practical music - this module runs throughout the course and students have practical workshops with a specialist teacher. Students perform as part of a group, as an individual or through the computer as electronic music.
Module 2: Music Technology - students learn about aspects of sound gear and technology and how to set it up, continued learning with Garageband, the basics of the iMovie app and the basics of recording in a studio.
Module 3: Composition - using technology to create electronic music.
Module 4: Music notation - done using software and sequencing.
It is recommended students purchase music workbooks provided in class ($10), 1 x 2B pencil, eraser, highlighter.
