Course Description

Course Length – Semester (Two terms).
This course enables students to realise the importance and relevance of design and graphical communication in today’s technological society. The skills taught will promote student learning through a series of design related tasks and lead to a career pathway in a design related field. This course follows the New Zealand Curriculum and leads directly to NCEA Level 1.
Students will build on their knowledge and skills from Year 9 to cover a wider range of skills that include investigation, research, problem solving, and evaluation. Formal drawing skills are developed further, to enable more complex design tasks to be completed. Computer Aided Design (CAD) is introduced with students being able to develop 3D models and working drawing documentation for a design task.

Contributions and Equipment/Stationery

Students must supply their own pencils (draughting and colouring) as well as a compass.
It is recommended that students pay $25.00 which covers the cost of take home materials associated with the C02 Dragster Design and limited 3D printing, laser cutting and colour printing costs.
