NCEA Level 3 Digital Technologies

Course Description

Students choosing digital technologies pathways for NCEA Level 3 will develop the more specialised skills that industry partners say are in high demand. Digital content covers two key areas, computational thinking and designing and developing digital outcomes.

Students are guided through an inquiry process to design and develop a digital outcome to meet the needs of a local or regional opportunity. The outcomes can range from apps, games, 3D augmented reality, web sites, movies, comic strips  or wherever the student's interest lies.

AS91901 (3) Apply User Experience methodologies to develop a design for a digital technologies outcome
AS91903 (4) Use complex techniques to develop a digital media outcome
AS91907 (6) Use complex processes to develop a digital technologies outcome

A.S. 91909 - Present a reflective analaysis of developing a digital outcome - this is an optional external standard for students wishing to gain a subject endorsement.

Recommended Prior Learning

Requires a minimum of 8 credits from NCEA Level 2 digital technologies.
