NCEA Level 2 Resistant Materials Wood Technology
Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Mr J. Thiele.
In this course, students will design and manufacture a variety of projects that relate to all areas of hard materials such as wood, metal, plastic and other hard materials.
The course will provide opportunities for students to develop practical and creative design and hands-on skills whilst dealing with clients.
A student will be withdrawn from a standard if the teacher is not confident that the achievement of the standard is within the reach of the student or there is no evidence of the student attempting the assessment.
Recommended Prior Learning
Year 10 and Year 11 technology are an advantage.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
It is recommended students pay the Subject charge of $100.00, which covers the cost of the take home materials used in the course.
Pathway
This course can lead the student on to a career in number of the industries:
Carpentry, Joinery, Building, Design, Quantity & Quality surveying, Project management & assist with knowledge require for the a career in an Architecture industry.
It can also help with the pathway into Tertiary institutions like: polytechnic & university or apprenticeship system.
