Course Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms S. Richards
The course aims to cultivate Wairua Māori and increase student enjoyment in using Te Reo Māori. Students will also develop a sensitivity and respect for Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori. Students are expected to research and be able to express, expound and justify their thoughts on Te Ao Māori and Tikanga Māori kaupapa.
Field Trips:
Manu Kōrero speech competitions (regional and national).
Curriculum topic marae stay.
A student will be withdrawn from a standard if the teacher is not confident that the achievement of the standard is within the reach of the student or there is no evidence of the student attempting the assessment.

Whakarongo kia mōhio ki te reo o te ao torotoro - Assessment Task 1 & 2.
AS91285 Kōrero kia whakamahi i te reo o te ao torotoro - Assessment Task 2 (iwi history power point).
Term 4
External Exams
AS91286 Pānui kia mōhio ki te reo o te ao torotoro.
AS 91287 Tuhi i te reo o te ao torotoro.
Contributions and Equipment/Stationery
It is recommended students pay an access fee of approximately $20 to enable them to log onto to the Education Perfect Website for online vocabulary.

It is preferable that students have achieved some NCEA Level 1 Te Reo Māori credits.
